FAQ’s
Common questions we hear.
As a previous client, can I keep working with you?
Of course. We started Coppertree Financial Planning to better serve our clients, and we’re excited for the opportunity to continue working with you.
Please reach out to us at 706-578-7777, or visit the Contact page of our website to schedule a conversation.
Why didn’t you notify clients you were starting your new firm?
Many large financial institutions have policies that restrict advisors from contacting clients before leaving, due to employment agreements and an industry standard known as the Broker Protocol.
The Broker Protocol was created to ensure a consistent, ethical process for advisors who change firms while maintaining client confidentiality. While it meant we couldn’t inform clients ahead of time, our transition to independence now allows us to communicate directly, openly, and proactively.
At Coppertree Financial Planning, transparency is one of our core values. As an independent firm, we operate without corporate restrictions, which means we can always put your interests first and communicate freely about any changes that affect you.
Why did you decide to go independent and open Coppertree Financial Planning?
We founded Coppertree Financial Planning to provide a higher level of service and coordination for our clients. Independence allows us to integrate all aspects of your financial life—estate planning, business transitions, investments, and tax strategy—without the limitations of a large corporate structure.
Our goal is simple: to deliver clear, trustworthy guidance that helps you make confident financial decisions. We believe lasting relationships are built on competency and character, and going independent allows us to serve you with both, free from outside influence.
Where are you located now, and how can I contact you?
Coppertree Financial Planning is located at 9982 Commerce Street, Summerville, GA 30747.
You can reach us by phone at 706-578-7777 or through our Contact page to request a meeting.
Will my fees stay the same?
Our goal is for your fees to decrease while the value and coordination you receive increase. As an independent firm, we have more flexibility in how our services are structured and priced, allowing us to tailor solutions to your unique situation.
Will my assets be secure?
Absolutely. The safety and protection of your assets is one of our highest priorities. After careful evaluation, we selected Raymond James as our custodian because of their longstanding reputation for integrity, financial strength, and client protection.
Raymond James has been helping individuals and institutions safeguard and manage wealth since 1962, overseeing more than $1 trillion in client assets. They provide advanced technology, robust compliance standards, and extensive insurance protections.
You can feel confident knowing your accounts are held with one of the most respected firms in the industry, with SIPC protection and additional coverage for eligible accounts.
Do you work with clients outside of Georgia?
Yes, while we’re based in Northwest Georgia, we serve clients in multiple states. Modern technology allows us to provide excellent service regardless of location.
What’s your investment philosophy?
We believe in efficient market theory and focus on factors you can control: costs, taxes, and risk management through broad diversification rather than trying to time markets.
Do you provide tax advice?
We provide tax planning strategies and work closely with your CPA. We don’t prepare tax returns, but we help develop proactive strategies to minimize your tax burden.
